*Before embarking on preparing this dish yo need to have the "gochujang" in hand. Available in Asian groceries and probably online. Without it it won't be successful.

Ingredients:
  • 1150 gm (~2 1/2 lbs) chicken drumettes
  • 2 large potatoes, cut into large chunks
  • 2 carrots, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 large onion, cut into 8 pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) water
  • 120 ml (1/2 cup) soy sauce. ( The Soy may be reduced to a min quantity of 80 ml (1/3 cup) for people who wish a lower salt content)
  • 25 gm (2 tbsp) white sugar
  • 45 gm (3 tbsp) *hot pepper paste

Method:
  1. In a large pot over medium heat, mix the chicken, potatoes, carrots, onion, sugar, and garlic.
  2. Pour in water and soy sauce, and stir in sugar and hot pepper paste.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer 45 minutes, until chicken juices run clear, vegetables are tender, and liquid has thickened. The liquid will probably thicken further as the dish cools.
You may need to mix the contents while cooking as the volume is not likely to cover the whole amount.
